Horror comedies have become the flavor of the season in Tollywood. Continuing with the trend, the latest one to hit the screens is Geetanjali.Starring the beautiful Anjali, and a whole lot of comedians, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :
Sreenu(Srinivas Reddy) is an aspiring young director, who lands in Hyderabad to make it big in films. Along with one of his friend, he rents an apartment which turns out to be haunted. As time passes by, he and his group of friends, encounter some evil forces in the apartment.
When all this is going on, Sreenu also meets Anjali(Anjali) who comes to his apartment looking out for her friends. Sreenu speaks to her formally, and in the due course of time, becomes good friends with her. Twist in the tale arises when he and his friends, find out a horrifying truth about Anjali.
What is that truth ? Why is that house haunted ? What is the story behind all this ? For answers to all these questions, you need to watch the film on big screen.
Technical Aspects :
Camerawork of the film is quite good. The way the graphics have been used, are also decent. As said earlier, the entire songs could have been chopped off. Editing is quite good, and so is the background score.
Screenplay of the film is ok, and all the twists and turns have been showcased decently. Director Raaja Kiran does a decent job with his first film. Even though, his story is inspired from quite a few films, he manages to showcase it quite convincingly. Dialogues of the film are quite hilarious, and those written for Shankar are top notch.
Plus Points :
Major plus point of the film, is the entire first half. Entertainment has been filled in huge quarters, and makes up for a hilarious watch during this part. Comedy scenes showcasing the evil effects, and the fun associated with the characters, have been brought out extremely well.
Jabardasth fame Shakalaka Shankar brings in superb laughs with his unique accent and histrionics. He has a tailor made role, and becomes the highlight of the first half. All the other comedians like Satyam Rajesh, Sapatagiri and Brahmanandam do their parts well. Anjali looks pretty and does a decent job. Though she does not have much to portray, she emotes her part well.
Comedian Srinivas Reddy has a major role in this film, and delivers a decent performance. This film allows him to showcase his talent, which he justifies it with a lot of conviction. Rao Ramesh is at his usual best, and delivers the knock out punch.
Minus Points :
Right after setting up a hilarious first half, one definitely expects the same fun to continue. But sadly, the film goes into the flashback mode, and new characters and twists come into the scene. Not that they are bad, but the scale of the film drops drastically here.
This film is inspired largely by many films, and has many scenes similar to them. Though the entire film has been promoted on Brahmanandam’s name, he has nothing much to do in the film, and is quite routine.
Once the twist is revealed in the second half, the film becomes quite predictable. At least two songs could have been removed. In fact, the film would have had a even better impact without the songs. The necessary horror thrills are missing in this film, and does not scare you at all.
Final Words :
On the whole, Geetanjali has its good moments. It starts on a hilarious scale, but gets mellowed down during the second half which also becomes quite predictable. The presence of A list comedians, and some funny comedy in the first half makes Geetanjali definitely a one time watch.
