On Friday, the 11th of November, 2016 there were lakhs of eligible candidates who sat for the Group Exams that were conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). The officials reportedly notified the candidates not to carry any mobile phones, rings & chains and also purses into the examination hall to keep the examination free of any kind of malpractice. While this sounds like a familiar happening, read on to know what actually happened.

TSPSC Exam Candidate asked to remove her ‘Mangalsutra’

In one of the TSPSC examination centers where the exam has held a woman was asked to remove her Mangalsutra. Married women consider this very sacred as the Mangalsutra represents their married life. As one of the measures to prevent any kind of malpractice the woman who was wearing the Mangalsutra as told to take it off before entering the examination hall. The woman refused to remove the Mangalsutra and as a result, she was she was not allowed to write the exam. Her husband tried to explain to the officials in vain as they did not permit the lady inside.

This is not the one odd case as many other candidates too expressed a lot of resentment due to the treatment that they were given at the examination centers. There were similar cases that were reported at a few other places of the exam centers as well.
